On 5 March 2026, former ANC MP Vincent Smith was sentenced to 7 years' imprisonment for accepting R28 million in bribes from Bosasa (African Global Operations). This was the first conviction arising from the Zondo Commission's Bosasa findings — nearly 4 years after the Commission's final report. Smith had chaired the parliamentary committee that was supposed to oversee Bosasa's prison contracts. Following the conviction, the NPA announced it was expanding Bosasa-related investigations, raising expectations of further prosecutions against figures including Nomvula Mokonyane.
