Minister of State Security for approximately four months (October 2017 to February 2018) — one of the last Zuma-era appointments. During this brief tenure, Inspector-General Dintwe testified that Bongo, together with Fraser, actively tried to derail IGI investigations into SSA corruption and weaken the IGI office. Separately charged with corruption for the attempted bribery of a parliamentary evidence leader investigating Eskom. That case was dismissed by Judge Hlophe in 2021 but reportedly reinstated in February 2025.
