Brett Kebble was the CEO of JCI Ltd who orchestrated approximately R2 billion in fraud through unauthorized share dealings and asset stripping across JCI, Randgold & Exploration, and Western Areas. He built an extensive political patronage network, donating millions to the ANC and paying SAPS Commissioner Jackie Selebi via drug dealer Glenn Agliotti. When facing imminent criminal prosecution in September 2005, Kebble arranged his own assassination — paying approximately R2 million to have himself shot. The triggermen received immunity; Agliotti was acquitted of murder. No one was ever convicted for the actual R2 billion fraud.
