SAPS Anti-Gang Unit detective and one of the Western Cape's most effective investigators into organised crime and police corruption. Kinnear was investigating Nafiz Modack's syndicate and the infiltration of Crime Intelligence by organised crime when he was assassinated on 18 September 2020. Despite a grenade attack on his home in November 2019 and repeated threat reports to SAPS management, his protection was inadequate. His murder exemplifies the deadly consequences of police corruption.
